If, however, you mean we shouldn't celebrate this truly creditable win over opponents against whom we had been written off completely, I'd differ vociferously. This is one of India's best tours on foreign soil, not just because we won the two finals, but because we played competitive cricket against quality opposition in hostile conditions over an extended period of time. So let's appreciate this, give them the standing ovation they deserve and not mix it up with debates on Aussie declines and "dooms day" discussions.

I was initially under the impression that your love for the game has detached you from mortal emotions like patriotism. But the tone and tenor of your post suggests I was wrong. Any genuine cricket lover would be delighted that Australia has been stretched and beaten, because that is what is good for the future of the game. Every sport needs a contest to sustain interest and this Indian team has done a brilliant job in providing us one. Refusal to recognize this, and instead rant about past Indian umpiring and ask condescending questions like "frankly speaking, what have India done", would have to qualify as being a bit mule-like.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28487955.post-31547754685272687392008-03-05T17:04:00.000+05:302008-03-05T17:04:00.000+05:30who said India is not consistent?Remember Sharjah ...who said India is not consistent?
Remember Sharjah 1998?
Remember World Cup 2003?
and now Down Under 2008...

A third standard kid wud tell u tht the team has a brief shot of brilliance every 5 years...

as an Indian, you should know tht while the world measures time in days and months, we have more lofty standards of decades and centuries...SRKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05915368004417241189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28487955.post-37563729193292387572008-03-05T15:39:00.000+05:302008-03-05T15:39:00.000+05:30@ AnonymousFirst request - Please put your name an...@ Anonymous
First request - Please put your name and city since I don't have a chance to know you otherwise.

Now as far as my viewpoints are concerned, I guess there is no point in being extreme in any situation. Time is the best judge and hence, if this Indian side is good enough to withstand the test of time, they would be honnoured as No.1 team. Till such time, let's accept the status quo.
I have always had high regards for australian sports in general and cricket in particular. Their attitude is commendable even though at times it tends to push a bit too far. Its not easy to beat Australia down under and Dhoni's team needs to be congratulated on that.
Just the fact to be remembered is the importance of consistency.Stambhithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09570725231480312393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28487955.post-31982407895615755552008-03-05T14:24:00.000+05:302008-03-05T14:24:00.000+05:30I enjoyed reading your blog - your outlook is one ...I enjoyed reading your blog - your outlook is one which is not shared by many indian supporters I think! I am an australian and was enthralled by yesterday's game - india thoroughly deserved their win and outplayed australia no doubt. But it saddens me that so many cricket followers have written off the aussies after losing one series.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
